Does your website track visitors before they consent?

Enter your website. We open it in a fresh browser three times, before any choice, after Reject all and after Accept all, and show which advertising and analytics trackers load each time. Free, no sign-up, about a minute.

What a good result looks like

Before consent

Only the site itself and its consent banner. No advertising, analytics or session recording.

After Reject all

The same as before consent. Refusing has to be as effective as never choosing.

After Accept all

The trackers the visitor agreed to. This is where they belong.

The usual causes

  • Tags in a tag manager with no consent trigger. Google Tag Manager fires them on page view unless each tag waits for the banner's signal or Consent Mode is set to denied by default.
  • A pixel pasted into the page template. A Meta, LinkedIn or Google Ads snippet in the site's header loads before any banner can ask.
  • A banner that records the choice but changes nothing. Reject all is saved, and the tags load anyway.
  • Embedded players and widgets. Video, maps and chat often bring their own trackers.

Questions

What does the check do?
It opens the page three times in a fresh browser, as a first-time visitor: once without touching anything, once clicking Reject all on the cookie banner, and once clicking Accept all. Each time it records which third-party services the page contacts and which cookies it sets, and names the known advertising, analytics and session-recording tools among them.
Why does a tracker before consent matter?
Under India's DPDP Act, processing personal data for a purpose like advertising or analytics needs the person's consent first, and consent has to be as easy to refuse as to give. In the EU the ePrivacy rules and the GDPR require consent before non-essential cookies and trackers. A tracker that loads as the page opens, or keeps loading after Reject all, runs without that consent.
Is it really free?
Yes. You can check a few pages a day without an account. Monitoring, which re-checks your site every day and alerts you when a new tracker starts loading before consent, is part of Scrutora Consent.
Does the check change anything on my site?
No. It only loads the page in a browser, like any visitor would, and reads what the page sends.
Why can a result differ from what I see?
The check runs from a server in India as a first-time visitor. Sites can show a different banner or different tags by country, after login, on other pages, or to returning visitors. Some sites turn automated browsers away entirely.

Keep it fixed

One check is a snapshot. Scrutora Consent re-checks your site every day, alerts you when a new tag starts loading before consent, and provides a consent banner and consent records that hold up under the DPDP Act and the GDPR. It also finds the trackers in your code, before they ship.
